Entoloma perzonatum E. Horak 1973

holotype (PDD 27035); Isotype (Herb. HK. ZT 69/215): 'Te Anau, Prov. Southland, N.Z.; leg. Horak, 3.IV.1969'. - Herb. HK. ZT 68/269: 'Valley of Thompson River, Waimakariri Catchment, Prov. Canterbury, N.Z.; leg. Baker, 26.III.1968'.
Pileus 20-35 mm diam., persistently conical, always with sharp papilla, dark brown, fading to beige, conspicuously zonate, lighter and darker zones alternating, strongly fibrillose, dry, hygrophanous, estriate. Lamellae free or adnexed, at first dark beige turning pink-brown, gill edge concolorous, even or scalloped, densely crowded. Stipe 50-75 x 2-4 mm, cylindrical, concolorous or lighter than the pileus, strongly fibrillose, dry, hollow, very brittle. Odor and taste not distinctive.
Spores 9.5-11 x 7-8 µm, 6-angled. Basidia 35-45 x 12-13µm, 4-spored. Cystidia none. Cuticle a cutis of repent or suberect, short cylindrical hyphae (6-20 µm diam.), membrane thin-walled, hyaline, with brown plasmatic or vacuolar pigment. Clamp connections absent.
Between grasses in riverbeds, paddocks, etc. New Zealand.
Pileo 20-35 mm lato, persistenter conico, obscure brunneo, concentrice zonato, fibrilloso, sicco, hygrophano. Lamellae ex adnato liberis, argillaceis dein brunneo-roseis, acie integra instructis. Stipite 50-75 x 2-4 mm, cylindraceo, brunneolo, dense fibrilloso, sicco, fistuloso, fragili Odore saporeque nullo. Sporis 9.5-11 x 7-8 µm, 6-angulatis. Basidiis 4-sporigeris. Cystidiis nullis. Epicute ex hyphis cylindraceis cutem formantibus, pigmento brunneo et plasmatico instructis. Septis defibulatis. In pratis, locis apricis. Novazelandia.
This species is characterised by its conical pileus and the conspicuous concentric zones which remain also visible in dried material.
