Checklists for the Flora

Checklists for the New Zealand flora are produced as PDF and data files from Ngā Tipu o Aotearoa - NZ Plant Names Database.  These checklists are made accessible via the Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research Datastore (datastore.landcareresearch.co.nz).

Two sets of checklists are available:

• Annual Checklists are produced each year at the end of August.  These contain synonymised lists for the flora, including biostatus information.
  • A checklist is created for:
    • Seed plants
    • Ferns and lycophytes
    • Hornworts, liverworts and mosses

• Quarterly Change Reports summarise changes to the names and taxonomy to, and composition of, the NZ Flora over the previous quarter.
