Cuticle a cutis or trichoderm of repent or semierect short cylindrical hyphae (6-20 µm  diam.), cells of subcutis inflated, membrane thin-walled, not gelatinized, with brown, plasmatic pigment. Clamp connections absent.
On soil in forests (under Nothofagus spp., Leptospermum spp., different Podocarpaceae). New Zealand.
Pileo 25-60 mm lato, conico vel umbonato-convexo, ex brunneo fuligineo, raro reflexo rubro instructo, centro squamuloso marginem versus minute velutino, perstriato, sicco, hygrophano. Lamellis liberis, ventricosis, roseis, acie integra instructis. Stipite 40-80 x 2-6 mm, cylindraceo, attenuato apicem versus, brunneolo, dense fibrillis albis obtecto, sicco, fistuloso, fragili. Odore saporeque nullo. Sporis 9.5-12 x 6.5-8 µm, 5-angulatis. Basidiis 4-sporigeris. Cystidiis nullo.
