For Hydrocotyle, Allan (1961) used the spelling novae-zelandiae, whereas the spelling should follow de Candolle's (1830) original novae-zeelandiae (Hj. Eichler pers. comm.; Garnock-Jones in Connor & Edgar 1987).Webb, C.J.; Edgar, E. 1999: Spelling New Zealand in the specific and infraspecific epithets of vascular plants.
