Notes
editorial
If we were to accept the classification proposed by Nicol & Saldivia (2025), it would result in a split where part of the genus would be assigned to one genus and the remaining part to another. However, before adopting their proposed taxonomic revisions in Olearia and Shawia, we will wait for the publication of the forthcoming paper that specifically addresses the broader genus-level issues.
Until this crucial paper is published, we are unable to implement the newly proposed changes in our database, as doing so without a resolved genus framework would create unnecessary confusion and inconsistency. Furthermore, we are not in a position to fully evaluate the taxonomic revisions presented in their current paper without the supporting context of a formally published study that addresses the overarching genus delimitation.
