Schizochora calocarpa Syd. 1924

Type: Foliicolous Fungi; Description: Ascomata stromatic, perithecial, depressed globose, 0.2–0.4 mm in diameter, non-ostiolate, opening by the falling away of the clypeus covering the perithecium, present generally as a single locule in a subepidermal, convex, circular to elliptical, black stroma 0.3–0.7 mm in diameter; on grey, indeterminate leaf spots on both sides of leaves. Asci clavate, 90–120 × 20–26 μm. Ascospores fusiform, 0-septate, 60–66 × 7–8 μm, smooth, hyaline, both ends terminating in long (about 30 μm) awn-like processes.
Distribution: Nelson, North Canterbury.; 1st Record: Sydow (1924).
Significance: None.; Host(s): Dracophyllum traversii.

Stromata amphigena, maculis fulscidulis indeterminatis plerumque insidentia,, plus minusve seriatim disposita, in epidermide evoluta et strato subepidermali plana basi insidentia, plerumque unilocularia, orbicularia vel. elliptica, 0.3-0.75 mm longa, valde convexa, nitida, aterrima, usque 300 µ alta, contextu atro; loculi applanati, 300-400 µ lati, 150-180 µ alti, clypeo 30-40 µ crasso; asci clavati vel fusoideo-clavati, sessiles vel subsessiles, octospori, 90-120 x 20-26 µ; sporae distichae, exacte fusiformes, utrinque acutissimae, continuae, hyalinae, utroque fine cilia longissima persistenti usque 30 µ longa et vix 1 µ crassa semper distinctissima recta vel curvata auctae, 30-36 x 7-8 (sine ciliis); paraphyses copiosae, filiformes, mucosae.
Eine durch die schönen mit langen dauerhaften Zilien versehenen Sporen sehr ausgezeichnete Art.
