Cuticle slightly gelatinised at maturity, composed of ± repent or obliquely ascending, interwoven, thin-walled, septate hyphae 3.5-8 µm, diam., with yellowish brown contents in KOH, terminal cells unspecialised; pilocystidia absent. lamellae: adnate, moderately crowded, moderately thick, simple or forked near stipe, to 7 mm deep, pallid cream with faint brown or pinkish brown tints, not discoloured at maturity, lamellulae rare. stipe: 2.5-4.5 cm long, ± equal, 1.2-2.2 cm diam., solid or slightly chambered at maturity, dry, finely felted to sub-pruinose under lens, pallid brownish white with faint pink tints to pallid brown; flesh white to brownish white, unchanging on exposure to air. Cuticle composed of interwoven, repent, thin-walled, septate hyphae 4-6 µm, diam., terminal cells unspecialised, aggregated and projecting in places, caulocystidia absent. spores: spore print not obtained; spores broadly ovate, obovate, or broadly elliptical, prominently obliquely apiculate, apiculus to 2.5 µm long, 8.5-11 X 7.5-10 µm, ornamentation of moderately dense, amyloid verrucae and crests to l-(1.5) µm high, joined by fine to moderately fine amyloid ridges and forming an almost complete reticulum; plage absent. hymenium: basidia hyaline, clavate, 40-67 X 9-13.5 µm, 4-spored, sterigmata to 9 ^m long; pleurocystidia scattered, numerous fusiform to subclavate, yellow tinted, thin-walled, contents refractive in KOH, projecting to 25 µm beyond basidia, apices acuminate, capitulate, or mucronate, 60-90 X 6.5-12 µm cheilocystidia rare, similar to pleurocystidia but shorter. hymenophoral trama: heteromerous, ± bilateral; mediostratum composed of sphaerocysts and connective hyphae, pigmented, sharply delimited from the lateral stratum composed of rather loosely interwoven connective hyphae. context of pileus: white to brownish white, unchanging; structure heteromerous, clamp connections absent. taste: lamellae and context mild. chemical characters: formalin on context—n.r; phenol on context— slowly deep vinaceous; FeSO4 on context—rapidly greyish green; guaiacol on stipe base—pallid salmon pink; KOH on pileus—darkening; on context—n.r; NH4OH on pileus and context—n.r.
