Chionochloa flavescens subsp. brevis Connor

Sheaths to 20 cm, mostly purpled, internerves and margins hairy. Lamina to 130 cm × 10 mm, adaxially with weft of short hairs and abundant prickle teeth above. Inflorescence to 30 cm, glabrous except for long hairs at branch axils and some stiff hairs below spikelets. Lemma to 6 mm; hairs dense on margins and in internerves, > sinus; lateral lobes usually awned. Anthers 6 mm.
A C. flavescenti Zotov ssp. flavescenti laminis prope ligulam adaxialiter pilis densis brevibus velatis, paniculisque glabris diagnoscenda.
