Subshrub, to 0.3 m tall (Fig. 1A,B). Branches decumbent, or ascending; old stems brown; youngest branchlets green, or red-brown; internodes (2.8–)3.5–6.5(–9.7) mm long; leaf decurrencies evident; leaf-base scars evident and sometimes prominent; stem pubescence bifarious, eglandular. Leaf bud about as long as mature leaves with leaves of a pair separating when mature; sinus broad and acute (Fig. 1D). Leaves subdistichous, erect or erecto-patent; lamina elliptic to obovate, coriaceous, concave, (5–)9–24(–37) mm long, (2–) 4–8.5(–10) mm wide; apex obtuse to subacute; base cuneate; evident venation in fresh leaves consisting of midrib only; midrib slightly thickened beneath and slightly depressed to grooved above; margin not thickened, rounded to slightly bevelled, glabrous or minutely ciliolate (especially toward apex), entire; upper surface glaucescent to glaucous, dull, with dense stomata, hairy along midrib and/or hairy toward base; lower surface glaucescent to glaucous, dull, densely covered with stomata, glabrous. Petiole 1–2 mm long, hairy above and/or hairy along margins. Inflorescences with 10–25 flowers, lateral, racemose and unbranched, 1.5–3.5 cm long (Fig. 1F), longer than subtending leaves (Fig. 1C), flowers opening in acropetal sequence, with all flowers (including those near the apex) developing to maturity; peduncle 0.45–0.7 cm long, eglandular pubescent; rachis 0.65–2.4 cm long, eglandularpubescent; bracts with lowermost pair opposite, then subopposite or alternate above, free, obtuse to subacute, ciliate with both glandular and eglandular hairs, suborbicular to broadly deltoid; pedicels shorter than bracts, eglandular pubescent, suberect at anthesis, suberect at fruiting, 0.2–1(–1.7) mm long. Flowers on individual plants all hermaphrodite. Calyx tapered at base, (2–)2.5–3.5 mm long, 4- lobed, equally divided or with anterior lobes united to 2⁄3 of the way to apex (Fig. 2); lobes elliptic (sometimes broadly), subacute to obtuse, with mixed glandular and eglandular cilia, margins membranous and sometimes tinged pink. Corolla white at anthesis, white after pollination; tube glabrous, 2–2.5 mm long, c. 1.5 mm wide, funnelform, c. equalling calyx (Fig. 1H); lobes slightly longer than corolla tube, glabrous; posterior lobe elliptic to circular or ovate, obtuse, suberect to patent, with margin and apex flat or turned upwards; lateral lobes elliptic to circular or ovate, obtuse, suberect to patent, with margin and apex flat or turned upwards; anterior lobe elliptic, obtuse, suberect to patent, with margin and apex flat or turned upwards; corolla throat white. Stamen filaments white, slightly diverging after anthesis, straight at apex in bud, c. 2.8–3.5 mm long; anthers subacute or shortly apiculate, purple, 1.7–2 mm long. Nectarial disc glabrous. Ovary ovoid, glabrous, 1– 1.4 mm long; ovules c. 11–14 per locule, marginal in one layer on a flattened placenta; style 5–5.5 mm long, c. 0.2 mm thick, glabrous, white; stigma no wider than style or subcapitate, yellow at anthesis, c. 0.175–0.2 mm wide. Capsules (Fig. 1E) latiseptate, subacute or acute, pale brown, 3.7–5 mm long, 2.4–3.2 mm wide, glabrous, loculicidal split extending up to 1⁄3 way to base.⅓
Fruiticulus decumbens ad 30 cm altum, rami apicales ascendentes sine ramulis per (6–)11–24(–37) cm ab apici. Gemma folii sinu lati acuti instructi. Folia elliptica ad obovata (5–)9–24(–37) mm longa, (2–)4–8.5(–10) mm lata, glauca vel glaucescentia in paginis ambabis. Inflorescentiae simplices constanter, floribus in axillis bracteorum omnium effectis, bractea quam calyx breviora, pedicelli 0.2–1.0(–1.7) mm longi. Corolla alba, tubo calycem c. aequitante.
