The compound epithet “cyanopetalum” is a neuter adjective --- “petalum” is a neuter noun, but when it is the final element of a compound, it is converted into an adjective (see Stearn, 4th edition, p. 280, #5). As an adjective (meaning “blue-petalled”) it must agree with the gender of the genus (regardless of whether it is a specific or an infraspecific epithet). So the correct name would be: Azorella haastii subsp. cyanopetala.

Plant slender. Petioles ± 6 cm. long; lamina glab. to strigose, 10-15 × 15-20 mm. Foliaceous involucral bracts on petioles c. 1 cm. long, lamina up to c. 6 mm. diam. Umbels c. 2 cm. diam.
