Classification
Descriptions
The lack of cystidia and the size of the spores (7-8 X 3.5-4.5 µ) exclude the probability that this specimen (KIRK 233) is conspecific with typical O. fibula.
Pileus membranaceous, almost translucent, rather tough, usually umbilicate, then infundibuliform ; margin drooping, then expanded, sometimes conical and more or less papillate; glabrous, hygrophanous, striate and orange-yellow or sometimes brownish or quite white when moist, pale when dry, up to 1.5 cm. across, usually much smaller ; gills deeply decurrent, distant, distinct, broad, whitish ; spores elliptical, 4-5 X 2 µ; stem 2-3 cm. long, very slender, coloured like the pileus, stuffed, then hollow, sometimes more or less tinged with violet at the apex.
New Zealand. Australia, Europe, United States.
Damp places, amongst moss, &c.
Often growing on ground that has been burnt. Slender and delicate, but rather tough.
