taxonomic status
The placement of Verpatinia in Sclerotiniaceae by Johnston et al. 2019 was a typo - the ITS analysis presented in this paper clearly show it to be Rutstroemaiceae, ITS sequences from specimens identified as types of Verpatinia (e.g. GanBank LC671647) and of Scleromitrula (e.g. GenBank Z80885) support the two genera being placed in synonymy. [PRJ, 2026]
