typification
New Zealand, on an old Sphaeria sp. (= Hypoxylon?), J. Mitchell, Lloyd 32642, holotype BPI 329986, isotypes K(M), PDD [AM190, AM574]. Ashley Gorge, on trees, Dec. 30th 1925
taxonomic status
The 'Hypoxylon/Sphaeria' is an old beech scale colony with both sooty mould and bare bark present, and over which the Hymenochaete had grown. [JAC]
