Tylopilus P. Karst. 1881

Two species in New Zealand, both indigenous. Ectomycorrhizal, both species common under tea-tree and beech. These species lack yellow colours and have no blueing reaction when damaged. The spore print is vinaceous.

Ectomycorrizal under beech and tea-tree. Large, dry, dark-coloured boletes, common. Lacking yellow colours or a blueing reaction when damaged, spore print vinaceous.
