Although this has not been verified, reading between lines, it seems that Pyrus sieboldii Regel (1859) was a new name for the apparently nom. nud. Malus toringo Siebold (1856). However, Sorbus toringo Siebold was published earlier (1848) (protologue also not seen), so is a valid basionym.
