The identity of the Calandrinia species naturalised in New Zealand is not yet confirmed with certainty. However, it is likely to be Calandrinia menziesii, a lowland temperate species known to establish outside its native range, rather than Calandrinia ciliata, which is typically associated with montane intertropical environments. Genetic analysis (e.g. rDNA sequencing) would readily resolve the identification if required.
