"Plagiochila arbuscula has been recorded for New Zealand (Engel and Merrill 2010a), but these reports are referable to P. trispicata (Renner et al. 2018)".
Plagiochila arbuscula is widespread throughout Malesia, from Java and Sumatra in the west, the Philippines in the north, to Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands in the east, with an outlying population in the Wet Tropics Bioregion of north-east Queensland to the south. In Australia Plagiochila arbuscula is confined to north east Queensland
