Recorded as the cultivar Farfugium japonicum 'Crispata' (Subtropicals 3(1): 16), and as the heterotypic synonyms Farfugium tussilagineum (Subtropicals 1(3):16). It was also recored as Farfugium gigantea (Subtropicals 4(3): 19) where the author says it was first sold (in New Zealand, presumably) as Ligularia reniformis because of the shape of the leaves), but the plant sold was probably Farfugium janponicum var. giganteum (Siebold & Zucc.) Kitam., not Farfugium giganteum Damman.
