editorial
This is a new name for "a[...] Pavonia long known in cultivation (Chittenden 1951) as P. intermedia Hort., an invalidly published (Siebert & Voss 1894; Wilks 1895) later homonym of P. intermedia St. Hil., a very different species with long aristate capsules, a basally united epicalycular involucel and oblique leaves. Lately, in horticultural reference books (Everett 1982; Graf 1986), P. intermedia Hort. has been confused with or referred to as a variant of Pavonia multiflora A. Juss."
Pavonia x gledhillii Cheek hybrida nova inter P. makoyanam Morren et P. multifloram A. Juss.
