The type specimen of Coprosma lucida var. angustifolia Cheeseman, Man. N.Z. Fl.:859 (1925). Original det. by TFC: "Coprosma lucida Forst. var. angustifolia". Nom. rev. of Coprosma lucida var. angustifolia Cheeseman June 1993 from the Herbarium T F Cheeseman held in AK (AK8699) has been annotated as Coprosma dodonaeifolia W.R.B.Oliv. But C. dodonaefolia has leaves with quite thin texture and is very pale underneath. The shape of the apex of C. dodonaefolia is acute while in the type it is obtuse. The leaf of C. dodonaefolia is widest at mid-lamina while in the type they are obovate.
