"It has been reported from New Zealand (Hooker 1853; Cheeseman 1906, 1925; Allan 1961), where it has mostly been treated as a variety of L. juniperina.
However, we very much doubt its occurrence in that country. Although Leptecophylla juniperina exhibits a high level of morphological variability (as observed from loan material), none of the variants we have seen can be ascribed to L. oxycedrus."
