J. Murray in his 1960 paper on Peltigeraceae in New Zealand recognised Peltigera horizontalis var. muscorum and Peltigera horizontalis var. muscorum f. albido-pruinosa Js.Murray for New Zealand. The specimens so name were regarded by Galloway (2007. p.1121) as Peltigera tereziana.
