![ITS tree. Putative Rodwayella sessilis specimens from NZ, together with a sequence from Europe (KT876974). The NZ specimens morphologically very similar, sessile, superficial apothecia forrming on whispy white subiculum, clavate asci, elliptic ascospores, 1-septate, slightly constricted at septum, about 12-16 x 3.5-5.5 µm. Some specimens with J+ asci, some J-; some with croziers, some without. Spores a bit narrower than described by Spooner (1987). A species complex? ITS about 95% match. Creator: P.R. DNA from PDD 117656 (TTT464) is close (ITS about 95% match) to putative R. sessilis ex Europe (KT876974 - this is surely misidentified, but morphologically likely to be close given the determiner) and matches the Spooner description of the holotype quite well. However, NZ specimens with narrower ascospores than decribed by Spooner. Seems to be a species complex in NZ, some variation in ascus apex reaction and presence of croziers on asci, otherwise all pretty close,
