As for but with marginal and laminal phyllidia. Phyllidia simple, lobulate at first, ± terete, globose, uniformly corticate, becoming flattened, ± dorsiventral with age, with a white, ecorticate lower surface, ± squamiform at maturity.

Austral Later, Elvebakk (Lichenologist 45: 9-20 (2013)) described two species to accommodate entities previously determined as Pannaria microphyllizans (Nyl.) P.M.Jørg.: Pannaria minutiphylla Elvebakk and Pannaria pulverulacea Elvebakk. However as the type of Psoroma sphinctrinium var. microphyllizans Nyl. was described from New Zealand, the name Pannaria microphyllizans is retained for New Zealand in this database.

Elvebakk described two species to accommodate entities previously determined as Pannaria microphyllizans (Nyl.) P.M.Jørg.: Pannaria minutiphylla Elvebakk and Pannaria pulverulacea Elvebakk. However as the type of Psoroma sphinctrinium var. microphyllizans Nyl. was described from New Zealand, the name Pannaria microphyllizans is retained for New Zealand in this database.
