Ever since the combination in Radula was published, the species epithet has often been spelled "aneurysmalis", including by Renner (2005), Herbaria in Australia, and at AK. However, the spelling here accepted follows the spelling of the basionym, Jungermannia aneurismalis as it was published, and as it was accepted by So (2005). As Váňa, Seppelt & Ochyra said in a 2015 publication [Cryptogamie, Bryologie, 2015, 36 (4): 349-368], “While some authors (Schuster, 1980; McCarthy, 2003; Renner, 2005) use the spelling Radula aneurysmalis of the specific epithet which was introduced by Gottsche et al. (1844), we follow the spelling – aneurismalis – used in the original publication describing this species (Hooker & Taylor, 1845).”
