Dichelachne inaequiglumis (Hack.) Edgar & Connor

Rather small, slender extravaginal tufts, leaves much < culms. Sheaths dull or light brown, glabrous or minutely scabrous below collar, or lowermost scabrous throughout, sometimes with scattered hairs; ligule 0.1-0.5 mm long, membranous, ciliate along truncate top, minutely scabrous on back; lamina to 15 cm long, 1-2.5 mm wide, flat, tapered, margins minutely scabrous towards tip, nerves on adaxial surface scabrous, occasionally both, or only adaxial, surface with short hairs. Culms 25-70 cm long, entirely glabrous, or slightly and minutely scabrous below purpled nodes. Panicle 10-30 cm long, lax; branchlets few, slender, in ± distant whorls, naked in lower third; rachis, branchlets and pedicels short-scabrous, visible between spikelets; spikelets purple, few. Glumes elliptic-lanceolate, acute, hyaline apart from scaberulous midnerve, lower (2.5)-3-3.5-(4.5) mm long, < lemma, upper (3.5)-4-5-(5.5) mm long, <, = or rarely > lemma. Lemma 4-6 mm long, surface minutely scabrous, tip shortly bifid; awn 13.5-18.5 mm long, purple, inserted c. 0.5 mm below lemma tip, column ± straight, awn twisting about 2-3 times. Palea 3.5- 4 mm long, narrow-linear, keels scabrous near ciliate tip. Callus hairs (0.5)-c. 1 mm long. Rachilla prolongation up to 0.2 mm long. Lodicules 0.4- 0.7 mm long, hyaline, cuneate, somewhat bilobed with a few apical hairs. Anthers 3, (0.9)-1.0-1.5- (2.5) mm long in chasmogamous flowers, (0.1)-0.2- 0.7 mm long in cleistogamous flowers. Caryopsis 2- 2.5 × 0.3-0.4 mm; embryo 0.2-0.4 mm long; hilum 1.8-2.3 mm long.
