Marasmius caperatus Berk. 1851
Entirely snow-white; pileus membranaceous, wrinkled and corrugated, smooth, 2-3 cm. across; gills distant, adnate, rather broad, connected by prominent ribs ; spores elliptical, 5 x 3 µ ; stem up to 1 cm. long, slender, furfuraceous.
Wairarapa, Northern Island, New Zealand. Himalayas.
On dead wood.
Distinguished by the membranaceous substance, pure-white colour, and the prominent ribs on the inside of the pileus connecting the gills. Tough. Type specimen examined.
Marasmius caperatus Berk. 1851
The type of this species in the Kew Herbarium is material from the Himalaya. It is not Marasmius but appears to belong to the Laschia complex. No New Zealand material remains.
