Description

Fruiting body consisting of a stalk bearing a single spherical, multinucleate spore with subtending apophysis, the spore typically being expelled by the explosion of a laterally produced gas bubble; spore germinating to produce a small, amoeboid plasmodium which enlarges, becomes reticulate, and eventually fragments into multinucleate prespore cells that give rise to the fruiting bodies; plasmodium sometimes producing rhizopodia or reticulopodia.

Sporocarpium e spora unica multinucleata apophysata in stipite non cellulari sita constans; sporis deciduis vel per vim emissis, cuique germinante plasmodium parvulum proferente, hoc postea dilatato atque in presporas multinucleatas fracto quae directe in sporocarpia evolvent.
