Mycena multicolorata Stevenson (29 D) = Insiticia flavovirens (Cooke and Massee) Horak. I. flavovirens was originally described from Australia, where it was found growing on trunks of tree ferns imported from New Zealand. We checked the type material of both species which is clearly conspecific (see Pegler, 1965) and in addition collected this agaric on two occasions on its rather specialised host substratum.
Pileus 1-2 cm. diam., bright green with yellow margin becoming ochraceous yellow with green tints, darker at centre, striate at margin, broadly conical; flesh thin, yellowish. Gills decurrent, yellow, moderately distant, rather deep. Stipe 5-8.5 cm x 1-3 mm, yellow above, green below, smooth, follow, with colourless juice. Spores globose, 7-8 µm diam., amyloid, thin-walled. Hymenophoral trama and tissue of pileus pseudo-amyloid. Cheilocystidia abundant, 30-45 x 5-10µm, ornamented. Dermatocystidia similar (Fig. 45).
In dense groups on standing stump of Cyathea dealbata, Butterfly, Wellington, 22.5.1949, Stevenson (type).
Pileus 1-2 cm- diam., laete viridis luteo-marginatus, deinde ochraceo-luteus viridi-tinctus, medio fusciore, margine striatus, late conicus; caro tenuis, lutescens. Lamellae decurrentes, luteae, modice distantes, altiusculae. Stipes 5-8.5 cm x 1-3 mm, superne luteus, inferne viridis, laevis, cavus, succo haud colorato. Sporae globosae, 7-8 µm diam., amyloideae, parietibus tenuibus. Trama hymenophoralis et pilei textura pseudo-amyloidea. Cheilocystidia copiosa, 30-45 x 5-10 µm, ornata. Dermatocystidia similia.
Typus: Stevenson 550.
