Descriptions
Probably introduced into New Zealand, growing mainly on lawns around houses and in parks. This species, however, is closely related to an undescribed native fungus.
This brilliant fungus which quickly blackens occurs commonly in grassy places throughout the autumn.

Notes
taxonomic status
Sequence data indicates NZ has H. conica sensu stricto, and a very similar species related to H. singerii which may have a viscid stipe. Differentiation of H. sngeri with relatively slender stems is not supported by collections. [JAC]
