Branchlets very close-set, very slender, c. 2-3 cm. long; lvs ± 2 mm. long, hardly 1 mm. wide; apiculus c. 0·5 mm. long. Fls c. 7 mm. long, 2 mm. diam. Fr. orange to yellow.

"In an attempt to establish the identity of L. fraseri var. muscosus, leaf length and leaf density measurements of the type (CHR 76004!) were plotted with wild and cultivated representatives of the L. fraseri complex and L. nanum (Fig. 4). Measurements place the type specimen close to both cultivated material of L. nanum and wild material of the mountain ecotype of L. fraseri, and, therefore, we were unable to confidently resolve to which species the type specimen is referable." "We treat the variety as incertae sedis, being either L. nanum or the mountain ecotype of L. fraseri."
