The transfer of Bulbophyllum tuberculatum to Adelopetalum was made with minimal explanation by Clements & Jones 2002: The Orchadian 13(11): 498–501. We reject Adelopetalum in favour of a broader circumscription of Bulbophyllum for the Flora of New Zealand. While Adelopetalummay be monophyletic, separating it makes Bulbophyllum paraphyletic unless other clades like sect. Minutissima are also removed—something the authors do not address. Phylogenies strongly support the monophyly of Bulbophyllum as a whole. Splitting off Adelopetalum now would be premature and inconsistent, especially without a clearer picture of internal relationships. There's no compelling reason to further split the genus at this time.
