Briggs and Ehrendorfer (1976) changed Pygmaea to Chionohebe, but did not make new combinations for the three NZ varieties of Pygmaea ciliolata (Allan Flora Page 873-874). More recently, Heads (1994) has noted that the distinctions between the three varieties are not clear-cut.
