New Zealand. Auckland: Birkdale neighborhood, Eskdale Bush Preserve, along trail head off Eskdale Road, 36°47'59.99"S, 174°41'59.99"E, 25m elev., mixed broadleaf forest with tree ferns, on tree fern, 6 Nov. 2017, F. Grewe 3037 & T. Widhelm (AK, holotype; F, isotype).

Material previously named either as L. lobificans or L. finki is likely to be either L. ulrikii or L. neozealandica. Dan Blanchon, pers. comm. after publication of paper by Barcenas-Peña et al. (2021).
