This species is named for the most influential pioneer of the study of New Zealand Coleoptera, including Faronitae, Thomas Broun.
Holotype. NEW ZEALAND: Auckland: 1♂ (NZAC), aedeagus dissected and mounted in balsam on a clear plastic card, “19.ix.51 La Roy’s Bush Birkenhead N.I. P282”, “N.Z. Arthropod Collection, NZAC Private Bag 92170 AUCKLAND New Zealand”, “HOLOTYPE Sagola brouni Park and Carlton 2013”. Paratype (1 male).
