Chiastocaulon flamabilis occurs in Australia and New Zealand, and does not appear to be common in either country. In Australia, C. flamabilis is known by a single collection from Mount Oakleigh in Tasmania, and, in New Zealand, from a handful of gatherings from the central and northern North Island.
