R. phaseoli is a recently (2008) confirmed valid species. The presence in New Zealand is not known as the taxonomy of ICMP R. leguminosarum isolates has not been re-evaluated after the 2008 publication. They may be recorded as R. leguminosarum biovar phaseoli, but the synonymy is unclear.
