Galloway (2007) cited Lecanora fuscata Nyl., Not. Sällsk. Faun. Fl. fenn. Förh. 8: 138 (1866) ["1882"] as the basionym of Acarospora fuscata (Nyl.) Arnold, Verhandl. zool.-bot. Ges Wien 19: 279 (1869), however there was an error in the literature citations for the combination in Acarospora and for Lecanora fuscata. The basionym is Parmelia fuscata Ach, which replaced Lichen fuscatus Schrad (1794) (non Lichen fuscatus Lam. 1789).
