Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense (Foc) was split into nine independent genetic lineages: • F. odoratissimum (Foc Lineage L1 = TR4 strains) • F. purpurascens (Foc Lineage L2) • F. phialophorum (Foc Lineage L3) • F. grosmichelii (Foc Lineage L4) • F. duoseptatum (Foc Lineage L5) • F. tardichlamydosporum (Foc Lineage L6) • F. cugenangense (Foc Lineage L7) • F. hexaseptatum (Foc Lineage L8) • F. tardicrescens (Foc Lineage L9)

taxonomic status
Important to biosecurity is Foc Lineage L1 which encompasses the tropical race 4 (TR4) strains. In Maryani et al. these are split to a new species called Fusarium odoratissimum. Foc Race 1 strains under this proposal are in seven different species. These changes have not been widely accepted by the plant pathology community.
