Of the one species in this genus, Hoare et al. (2019) said: "Note. This species has not been collected since 1955, and is still not known from Australia, which is almost certainly its country of origin (Hardenbergia is endemic to Australia)." A previous Biostatus note for the one species read: "probably extinct in New Zealand. Described from New Zealand, but on adventive host. Population now destroyed."
