Fife (2017) was unable to resolve this name as type material was not available. It was placed in synonymy [with Eriopus flexicollis] by Dixon (1927, pp. 285–286). It is unlikely that Dixon actually saw type material; it is also unlikely that any identifiable type material of the Colenso names is extant. It is better to consider this Hookeria pygmaea Colenso a nomina dubia.
