Confusingly, there were two publications of Grimmia affinis Hornsch. (1819). 1. Grimmia affinis Hornsch. Flora 2(1): 85 (1819), synonymised with Grimmia fuscolutea by Muñoz & Pando (2000) 2. Grimmia affinis Hornsch. Flora 2(2): 443 (1819), nom. illeg., synonymised with Grimmia longirostris by Muñoz & Pando (2000) It appears to the dataentry person here (March 2024) that the Grimmia affinis cited on p. 85 and on p. 443 in Hornschuch's papers both had the reference "Crypt. C. II. D. V."
