Lectotype: New Zealand, North Is., East Taupo Co., Mt. Tongariro, 1887, Hill s.n., Colenso hb. no. a.1308 (WELT!); isolectotype: (CHR!). A specimen at CHR does not bear specific locality data, but has the notation "Chiloscyphus ammophilus Col., det. Colenso a 1308, Ex Herb. Colenso. TYPE." The specimen is regarding as a duplicate of the lectotype which is deposited in WELT.
