The name Rhizomonas is illegitimate because it is a later homonym of a name of a taxon of protozoa (Rhizomonas Kent 1880). The name Rhizomonas has been placed in the list of "Rejected names of genera and subgenera of bacteria (nomina generum et subgenerum bacteriorum rejicienda)" by the Judicial Opinion 14
