species
Senecio ×pottsii
Type: W. Gray & J. F. Armstrong, Mt Jollie, Rangita ta district, 4500 ft, (specimen not located). Drury 1973 notes "Wall (1935) believes that the specimen labelled by J. F. Armstrong "Mt Potts, 4000 ft" (CHR 635538) is the same plant which is cited in the protologue of S. pottsii as "Mount Jollie, Rangitata district, 4500 ft." Mount Jollie is on the opposite side of the Lawrence River to Mt Potts. Apart from the number of involucral bracts, the Mt Potts specimen agrees with the diagnosis of S. pottsii."

The putative parentage is between two species now transferred to Brachyglottis: Senecio cassinioides Hook.f. (now Brachyglottis cassinioides (Hook.f.) B.Nord.) and Senecio bellidioidesi Hook.f. (now Brachyglottis lagopus (Raoul) B.Nord.)
