editorial
Fife (2020, Fl. New Zealand mosses 46) accepted Eriodon Mont. "as a distinct genus [from Rhynchostegium Schimp.] because of its highly distinct peristome". He appears to have overlooked the rejection of Eriodon against Rhynchostegium [see Ignatov, M.S.; Huttunen, S. (2010), (1936) Proposal to conserve the name Rhynchostegium against Eriodon (Bryophyta: Brachytheciaceae), Taxon 59(3): 973. The rejection is recorded in Appendix III of the International code of Nomenclature for Algae, Fungi, and Plants (2015)
