Machilus Rumph., Encyclopédie Méthodique, Botanique 3: 668 (1791) is a nom. inval., recommended not validly published in Brummitt, Taxon 59(4): 1276 (2010), so Nees publication consitutes the protologue. "The committee has voted 12-4, 2 abstentions, that the descriptive material provided by Rumphius does not constitute a description or diagnosis and so the name was not validly published in Desrous seaux's contribution to Lamarck's Encyclopedie."
