editorial
Dichroa versicolor was recorded by Edwards (2009) at Lincoln University. The actual identity of the plant cannot be certain, and the current name is difficult to ascertain without more work. The implication from GBIF and IPNI is that the name has been misapplied in horticulture. Mabberly (2017) gives Dichroa as a synonym of Hydrangea; however no combination was found for this in Hydrangea. GBIF, however, gives it as a synonym of Hydrangea febrifuga (Lour.) Y.De Smet & Granados. Plants of the World Online (Kew) list it as Dichroa ×versicolor (Fortune) D.R.Hunt, and give it as a synonym of xDidrangea versicolor
