The protologue is often cited as Thunberg's Flora Japonica 125 (1784). Both Flora Japonica and Systema Vegetabilium, ed. 14 were published in 1784, and the publication in Thunberg's Flora Japonica (Aug 1784) is a much more detailed description, whereas the listing in Systema Vegetabilium is brief and refers to the Thunberg publication. However Systema Vegetabilium ed. 14 (J. A. Murray) was published first, in May-Jun 1784.
