The name Rama antarctica V.J.Chapm. was not recognised for New Zealand in Nelson et al (2019) Conservation status of New Zealand macroalgae, and a current name has not been found. Algaebase.org recognises Rama V.J.Chapm. as a synonym of Rhizoclonium (July 2023) Name entered on database as type specimen in Allan Herbarium.
